May 1st is our Ten Year Anniversary, no applause - just come in to eat, really not sure what to do. Probably be doing lots of menu specials or maybe more t-shirt give a ways. For My Lunch Time Regulars We are bringing back
“The Dog Days of Summer Menu” which is an assortment of really awesome hot dog & specialty sausage recipes and we are introducing our “Burger Buster Menu” which is an assortment of Hamburger recipes for lunch.

Here’s a challenge: Eat your way through either menu [dog or burger] and get a free James Brown T-Shirt. It’s already been done one of the guys from the Harris Corporation. He is one of our lunch time “Pigs Trough Crew” and he’s a “little guy”! Who’s going to be next? Ask Riley, my lunch time server, for a “entry card” to log your accomplishments. OUTSIDE SEATING
Many of you are asking about the outside seating. We want to set up as much as you do, but because of the high winds in April and early May it’s not always possible. The outside canopy is coming down this weekend hopefully. Weather permitting. This last cold snap slowed things down. It’s going to be a day to day thing. You will be the first to know.

FRIDAY DINNERS

VEGETARIANS
No, I’m not gonna make fun of you. For those of you who lean toward vegetarian dishes, please let me know if there is any desire for more items. The vegetarian black beans and rice has been very well received. For those of you who tried the spicy eggplant dish we served last week, let me know if there is any interest in having that more frequently or permanently.

OTHER STUFF
This is the last weekend for porridge next week we hope to feature JB’s Nature Bowls. Order lots of them, because the servers hate to make them : Seriously they are a great and refreshing starter to share for breakfast before you get down to the serious business and you all know what I mean.

Also, considering adding Green chili sauce and Ranchero sauces on a regular basis let me know if there is any interest.

BUT, We are extending it one more week for those of you that “forgot” to print a copy of the email with your info on it to turn in as your coupon for the drawing. Don’t forget to bring it in with you this weekend.

The other reason is our shipment of new T-Shirts still hasn’t arrived. So, I needed more time.

Holly Lopez’ husband ordered her a shirt for Christmas and she hasn’t received it. Sorry. There will be no more excuses. if you don’t see me around it’s because Holly has killed me

For those of you that don’t know my Friday night cook is Victor Molina. Thus the Victor of the Friday Dinner Specials. Victor has worked his way up thru the ranks here at J.B.P. to become an integral part of the restaurants cook staff.

He is responsible for all the great homemade breads we have on our menu and most of the soups. When you come in on Friday nights make sure to say Hi toVictor.

You will all be happy to know that we have been given a six ton unit that we hope to have installed before the hot weather hits. If there are any of you out there in the AIR CONDITION business or can recommend someone who is… we are looking for deals. I want to thank all of our loyal customers who have suffered through the summer heat with our old AC systems, but when I purchased the two units,  at the tune of $5000.00 four years ago I was told they were strong enough to keep the place cool, as we all know, that was wrong. I Promise this summer will be a lot more comfortable at The Restaurant. Please send me an email if you know someone who can help get this new equiptment installed and pumping cool air.

I Hope to have the front protective cover down and outside seating by the first of May.  But as we all know that depends on the weather or more importantly the winds which can reek havoc on the patio.

On The First Show, we featured our Stuffed French Toast (recipe). And on last weeks show we made our Bayou Frittata (recipe). It was a lot of fun working with those guys and they promise to feature us again in some up coming shows.

It is called “Soul Plate with Miss Betty“. Her co-host is Jerry from the Flour City Diner. This weeks feature is the “Bayou Frittata“. We will prepare one on TV and share with you the recipe. If you don’t want to make it yourself, then come visit us at the Diner.
